#Hashtag Campaign Gone Wrong

As a hashtag marketing company, one cannot ignore the importance of Hashtag in digital marketing campaigns. Hashtag marketing strategy should be to use them strategically as an integral part of your content promotion campaign on Twitter, Google+, Instagram, and Pinterest etc. There can be #Brand specific or #Campaign specific tags to easily identify and track the success besides helping in SEO related to keywords. Individual campaigns can have their own unique hashtag. Say unique discount tag linked to different products which can be redeemed during purchase.

Use hashtags which are easy to remember and clear of any ambiguity as it can backfire with members using them to smear your brand. Social media is galore of such hashtags gone wrong campaigns. Some of the famous hashtags gone wrong are:

#susanalbumparty - It was an inadvertent hashtag which read differently than it was intended. The tag was associated with a party thrown for Susan Boyle's album launch but has to be taken off quickly when it was realised it read something else. That's why capitalisation (#SusanAlbumParty was read as #SusAnalBumParty) in the hashtag is necessary.

#StayPutinLabour - Another hashtag gone wrong! At the the or writing the post, we found this hashtag being compared to #susanalbumparty as another bad hashtag usage.
